I hadn't completed the book, at that point, so it is taking on a different pace, as I rewrite it. I had to cut out a bunch of stuff for this installment to maintain the right tension & pace. Makes me wonder if I ever really needed it. 😉
Oh that’s interesting! I love how behind-the-scenes stuff can impact stories. I’m trying to make sure each of my serial’s episodes are under around 3000 words, which is really forcing a specific pacing. It can be fun to have limitations sometimes!
Indeed! My number is 2,000. If I'm under, even better, but usually over. I have a cozy mystery series on Amazon & it's a Short Read (10 to 12 chapters long.) Those chapters are 3,000 or under. It's cool to hear these goal lengths. I've been writing shorter, as a personal trend, but it probably means I'll have more chapters. So it's all relative.
